Florida Farewell: Birthday Partying in Tampa
After Siesta Key and my last beachy hurrah, I had to come to terms with leaving my wonderful home state for landlocked Kansas. However, moving day wasn’t until the day after my birthday so I was determined to party all over Tampa to ring in my twenty third trip around the sun. One does not move to Kansas with a whimper but with a bang!
I spent the day doing (and eating) all of my favorite things with my family and best friends. Here is how I spent my last day in Florida and my twenty third birthday!
We had brunch at the Oxford Exchange. It really is such a beautiful space to enjoy a meal in and our food and drinks were delicious. I got the lobster grilled cheese and a cortado to drink. Also, if you go to Oxford Exchange and don’t take pictures of the space, were you even there?
After Oxford Exchange, we went to Lowry Park Zoo, one of my favorite things to do in Tampa. There are so many baby animals right now and I couldn’t wait to see them all. One of my favorite parts of the Zoo include the manatee hospital, where Lowry Park staff rescues and rehabilitates injured manatees from the Tampa Bay area.
Finally, for the end of my birthday and journey around my home city, we went to Datz for dinner. I LOVE DATZ. I was able to get all of my favorite things all in one place: chicken and waffles, a good stout, and ice cream inside of a donut. There was definitely a birthday food coma to follow the last stop on our adventures.
Needless to say, this was definitely an awesome birthday. No matter how far life takes me, I’ll still refer to Tampa as my home. Tomorrow begins more tumbleweed adventures!
